The Spiritual Race

Life is a mix of pain and of sorrow,

There seems to be no bright tomorrows...

Yet today the sun may shine awhile,

And encourage another cheerful smile.

We can thank God for His mercy and love,

Knowing He sees from His throne above...

He uses each twist of anxiety and pain,

For our own good, for our own gain.

But when our patience is tried too long,

We forget the words to our 'thankful' song.

I asked God to open my blind eyes to see,

All His warm love that encircles me.

And to open my ears to hear a bluebird sing,

Because His special gifts mean everything.

There's an answer for all sadness and gloom...

Could it be the fragrance of a red rose in bloom?

Or the twinkling stars that shine in the night?

Or the pale moon's own pure light?

Or sunbeams dancing through the rain,

Helping us to smile instead of complain?

How amazing is our Lord's mercy and grace,

As we run to win this spiritual race...

"Believe in the Lord because He is good."

Only then can we live the way we should.
